Day 4: Inauguration

06 Dec Day 4: Inauguration

4

#Then: This photo celebrates the beginning of the formal Diocese of Niassa in 1978 in the cathedral at Messumba although in reality God had been at work in this area of Mozambique long before. We know there were missionaries in this are in the 1880’s from the UMCA but we also know that the kingdom of God works outside of church, diocese & missionary and that God would have been preparing the way of faith for the peoples of Niassa long before.

#Now: Today, the Diocese of Niassa is on the last stretch of the road to multiplication to become two dioceses: the Diocese of Lurio and Niassa. Lord Jesus, we pray for the inauguration of the new Diocese of Lurio and all that has to be done before this celebration happens. We pray for wisdom, grace and peace on this journey towards a new Diocese and thank you for growth. Amen.

With thanks to the Bodleian Libraries, The University of Oxford and USPG Archives.
